Concluding the year of 2014, here’s our assessment of December’s best films. Several good films were released in December to finish the year – here’s what we consider the best one’s to check out.
Once you get past Jude Law’s dodgy attempt at a Scottish accent, this is a gritty men on a mission tale set almost entirely on a submarine. Tense, thrilling and utterly gripping, this was a great watch.
Angelina Jolie’s WW2 drama tells the remarkable story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic athlete who survived a plane crash and spent a substantial period of time in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. It’s an excellent film and features another great performance from Jack O’Connell.
Technically out in November (although I never saw it until December), ‘The Skeleton Twins’ is an excellent family drama that effectively balances humour with the film’s darker themes, and features two knockout performances from Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig.
